Thank You for Celebrating the Cornerstone Comeback With Us

Thank you for joining us at the SDDA’s Greet & Eat event and helping us celebrate the launch of the Cornerstone Comeback Grant Program.

We are grateful to everyone who attended, connected with fellow members of the Southfield community, and helped make the event such a success. We were also proud to recognize Public Works Manager Nagam Kattula for her 39 years of service and celebrate the 91 employees of Southfield’s Department of Public Works.

The Cornerstone Comeback Grant Program represents a $50,000 investment by the Southfield Downtown Development Authority during the current fiscal year. It was created to help business owners, property owners, developers, and entrepreneurs improve commercial properties, activate vacant spaces, and support business growth throughout the Historic Cornerstone District.

One application provides access to three opportunities:

Business Opening Grant
Up to $5,000 for eligible expenses associated with opening, expanding, relocating, or preparing a vacant commercial space anywhere in the Cornerstone District.

Curb Appeal Facade Improvement Grant
Up to $5,000 for eligible exterior improvements that enhance the appearance and curb appeal of properties in Northland Park.

Mid-Century Modern Address Numeral Grant
Up to $500 for architecturally compatible address numerals that improve visibility and celebrate Northland Park’s Mid-Century Modern character.

Eligible applicants may apply for one or more of the grants. In addition to financial assistance, the SDDA can provide professional guidance, help applicants understand the process, and connect them with the appropriate City departments and resources.

Whether you are preparing to open a business, renovating a property, improving a storefront, or considering a future investment, we encourage you to contact us. You do not need to have every detail finalized before reaching out. The SDDA is here to listen, answer questions, and help you explore what may be possible.
