Northland City Center Sports Facility – Community Info Sessions + How to Show Support

Serving Southfield’s Historic Cornerstone District

Hi everyone,

There’s an important opportunity coming up that will help shape the future of the Cornerstone District—and we want to make sure you’re informed and have a chance to be heard.

Detroit Rising Development is proposing a new sports facility at Northland City Center—a year-round destination designed to bring energy, activity, and new investment to the area.

🏟️ What’s Being Proposed

Detroit Rising Development (DRD) specializes in transforming underused spaces into vibrant community destinations. Their past projects include:

  • Detroit Shipping Company – a unique food hall and gathering space

  • Lansing Shuffle – a high-energy restaurant collective and social hub

  • Livonia Athletic District – an adaptive reuse sports and training complex

The proposed Northland facility builds on this approach—bringing sports, recreation, and community activity together in one place while supporting nearby businesses and future development.

💬 Join an Informational Meeting

Detroit Rising is hosting two virtual sessions so residents can review the proposal before the City Council vote:

Thursday, April 23 | 5:00 – 6:30 PM

Friday, April 24 | 2:00 – 3:30 PM

These sessions are a great chance to ask questions and better understand how the project could impact the district.
